KH: About
The Encyclopedia of Korean Heritage is a comprehensive digital guide to Korean cultural heritage. The goal of this project is to provide students, educators, and translators with information to better understand Korea's cultural heritage in context. This context includes related cultural heritage, historical figures, events, places, and concepts. In addition to heritage and concepts, the website provides links to further learning resources and immersive media to provide greater understanding. These various items can be curated into collections, which can serve as online exhibitions, lesson plans, or storytelling platforms. In other words, this website combines the functions of a virtual museum, glossary, library, theater, and classroom to facilitate greater interest in and utilization of Korean cultural heritage.
The site uses MediaWiki software with the Semantic Mediawiki and Page Forms extensions to create RDF data that can be easily queried and downloaded.
The interpretive texts and definitions for concepts are taken from the Korea Heritage Service's Korea Heritage Portal, the on-site information panels of the respective cultural heritages, or the work of the Cultural Heritage English Interpretive Text Compilation Team at the Academy of Korean Studies.
Unless otherwise noted, all photos on this site are taken from the Korea Heritage Service's Korea Heritage Portal, which are available for use according to the General Agreement for Korea Open Government License (KOGL).
This project is created and managed by Lyndsey Twining, a PhD Candidate at the Academy of Korean Studies.
한국 국가유산 백과사전은 한국 문화유산과 관련된 개념에 대하여 포괄적인 정보를 제공하는 디지털 안내서입니다. 이 프로젝트는 학생, 교육자, 번역가들이 한국 문화유산을 다룰 때 관련된 상황을 조금 더 자세히 이해할 수 있기 위한 정보를 제공하기 위해 시작됐습니다. 제공하는 정보는 문화유산과 관련된 역사, 종교 유적지, 지리적 위치, 역사적 시기, 관련된 역사적인 인물, 참고 자료, 사진 등입니다. 기본적인 지문은 영어와 한국어 모두 제공되며, 한국어 용어의 영어 번역도 제공됩니다. 이 사이트에서 만들어진 자료가 한국 문화유산을 연구하는 사람들에게 도움이 될 수 있기를 바랍니다.
이 사이트는 Semantic Mediawiki와 Page Forms 확장기능을 갖춘 MediaWiki 소프트웨어를 사용하여 쉽게 쿼리하고 다운로드 할 수 있는 RDF 데이터를 만들 수 있습니다. 해석본과 개념에 대한 정의는 국가유산청 국가문화유산포털 및 각 문화재의 현장 안내판 또는 한국학중앙연구원 문화유산영문해설문 편찬연구팀의 자료에 기초했습니다.
